"THERES A PLACE FOR EVEVR BODY IN CARRICK ON SHANNON TIDY TOWNS'

We have a great group of volunteers from diverse backgrounds and with many talents. We would love to welcome new members .

The Tidy Towns Competition encompasses many aspects of Irish life.

There are 8 categories in the Competition

including how we interact with the wider community and how our community helps us to achieve all that we have done, our streetscapes and public places, nature and Biodiversity, Sustainability and doing more with less, tidiness and litter control, residential streets and housing areas, approach roads, streets and lanes.

The Competition also includes where and how we can align with the UN Sustainability goals.

We are always on the look out for new projects that will help us to gain marks in all of these categories. For instance, in 2021 we launched

Cofee Cup Campaign " to highlight the incredible amount of single use cups that Ireland uses in a single hour - 20,000 and encourage people to get and use a reusable cup when they get a takeaway drink, we also asked cafes to sign up to  the conscious cup website.

We retained our Gold medal in 2021 and remain the Tidiest Town in Leitrim .You can see all of our medals and trophies displayed in The Bush Hotel on Main Street.

We have Sunday morning litter picks ,meeting at the Tourist Office at 10am. Come along, bags and litter picks provided. We litter pick for an hour and we have tea or coffee sponsored by Gala on Bridge Street.

Once the evenings get bright we have our Tuesday Task Evenings meeting up at 7.30pm at the Tourist Office.
